Do You Believe?

John 14:1-15

1Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God;a believe in Me as well. 2In My Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am. 4You know the way to the place where I am going.”b

The Way, the Truth, and the Life

5“Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?”

6Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

8Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”

9Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?10Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works. 11Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works themselves.

12Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14If you ask Mec anything in My name, I will do 15If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

I call this the BELIEVE section! Six Times here in this Small Section Jesus tells us to Believe Him, or Believe in Him. I think a Large part of believing in Him is knowing His person. Jesus said if you had known me. That known there is a real personal experience (first-hand acquaintance. Ginṓskō – properly, to know, especially through personal experience. I believe Once we get to know Jesus through personal experiences we grow to believe Him more, and more. I also think that without that personal experience in knowing the person of Jesus Christ this next part is going to be very difficult. This is such an amazing promise!! Jesus Says Whatever you ask in my name I will do it. He says that In the Father answering our prayers glorify ‘s the Son. Jesus says anything we ask in HIS name He Will do it! To believe in Jesus is to have faith in Him. To be persuaded by Him, to have confidence in him. Again this is Something that comes from a relationship with Him. To have ginosko (personal experience) with Jesus would have been to know his personality, Likes, and dislikes. In biblical times to know a persons name was to know a person Intimately. The key to this amazing promise, Is to pray to the Father for things that are in accordance to Jesus personality,His work, things that would glorify GOD. This promise is not permission to ask whatever you want and Get it. Do you believe? Do you really know Him? If you have questions please ask, we are all meant to be kingdom citizens!
